The MARS® MINERDOME is a mecca for basketball and sports tourism in regional Victoria, hosting domestic basketball competitions, national basketball tournaments, community events and programs including Aussie Hoops for 5-8 year olds, holiday camps hosted by Miners and Rush players, DanceSports, and other indoor sports including volleyball and netball.

3,300 weekly competitors play in 56 domestic basketball competitions for ranging from primary school competitions, social leagues for males, females and mixed, masters (over 35s), to the elite Premier League, 40 weeks per year.

2,700 more people visit the MARS® MINERDOME weekly for viewing domestic competitions, visiting the Minerdome Sports Club bistro, licensed club, and function rooms overlooking the MARS® MINERDOME showcourt, and participating in community programs.

8,800 annual MARS® MINERDOME and WSEC visitors participate in annual state and national basketball tournaments, both junior and senior, and other sports including netball, volleyball, futsal, dance and cheerleading, as well as exhibitions and fairs.

683 (and up to 1,200) spectators converge on 14 Miners and Rush home games per season. 49% are from Ballarat and 38% are from surrounding regional centres. 31% are aged 36-45, 25% are aged 18-25 and 25% are under 18.
