Miners Release Augustus

Basketball Ballarat Elite Men’s Teams Chairman Nick Grylewicz today announced that the Club has released import Kodi Augustus effective immediately.

Grylewicz thanked Augustus for his service to the club this season but added that the decision had been made by the Committee that Kodi was not the right fit for the program and, despite intensive work with him across a number of key performance areas, he was not able to meet the standard and culture required by the club for a leading regional community program where community engagement and an active involvement with all aspects of club life is required.

Augustus completed his commitments to the Miners program on Sunday in Tasmania and is returning to the United States today.

The Club is considering its options over the course of this week before deciding on a possible replacement player. The Elite Teams Committee has been assessing this matter and the best options for the team over the past 48 hours and expects to be able to make an announcement on this later in the week.

Miners Coach Eric Hayes expressed his disappointment at having to make a change to the team mid season but felt that the change was necessary to ensure that the team maintained its tradition of presenting not only talented players but committed community role models that our local junior sports stars could get to know and aspire to follow.
