Senior Players hit the courts in Annual Tournament

Thanks to presenting Partner Bylsma Hire the annual Sporting Globe Ballarat Senior Basketball Tournament wrapped up on Monday after almost 150 games were played across the Labour Day Long-Weekend. With 52 teams participating across the weekend at the Minerdome and Ballarat Sports Events Centre, giving visitors to the town a great taste of the history of Ballarat Basketball, as well as the future.

On the final day of the tournament the teams in the Bylsma Hire Premier Division used the games as the perfect shake down for their up-coming NBL1 or Big V competitions, whilst in the other divisions the joy of sport was mixed with a social weekend away enjoying much of what Ballarat can offer over the Begonia weekend.

Some local teams came out on top with the Jiblets (C Men Sovereign), K.C Clippers (C Men Eureka), and the Selkirk Ballarat Rush (Premier Women) winning their respective divisions, while out of towner’s took out the remaining divisions. The Selkirk Ballarat Rush went through their 5 games undefeated, with the weekend being used to assist in building chemistry for their upcoming NBL1 South season.

The biggest game of the tournament came in the Bylsma Hire Premier Division Men, where the Red Roo’s took overtime to defeat the RMIT Redbacks by a solitary one point. With Peter Deng Jr taking home the John Bylsma Medal awarded to the MVP on the back of his 17 point haul.
