BALLARAT REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM

OTHER RESOURCES

The Director of Coaching holds overall responsibility for coach appointments and management within the Ballarat Basketball Association. Our Junior Miner coaches are either qualified or are in the process of obtaining qualifications through the Basketball Australia Accreditation Scheme.

At Ballarat Basketball Association, we prioritize providing the best coaching experience for our athletes. To uphold our high coaching standards, we conduct Coaches Accreditation Courses throughout the year. These courses are meticulously designed to furnish our coaches with a comprehensive understanding of our program’s objectives, expectations, preferred style of play, and teaching methodologies.

By actively participating in these accreditation courses, our coaches will be better equipped to guide and nurture our players, fostering an environment of growth and excellence within our basketball community. Additionally, they will receive accreditation at Level 2 (Club Coach) from Basketball Victoria.

We deeply appreciate the commitment of our coaches and firmly believe that investing in their skills and knowledge will significantly contribute to the success of our athletes and the Ballarat Basketball Association as a whole.

Each team will be led by a Head Coach, and some teams may also have an Assistant Coach. It is mandatory for all coaches to adhere to the codes of conduct set forth by VJBL and BBA, which include the following requirements:

  • Every VJBL Coach must possess a Basketball Victoria Club Coach Accreditation.
  • Completion of Working with Children (WWC) checks.
  • Submission of a Statutory Declaration.
  • Training in Child Safety and Health & Safety protocols.

Furthermore, all coaches are encouraged to continually enhance their knowledge and skills. This is typically achieved through active participation in coaching sessions, involvement in Basketball Victoria events, and pursuing opportunities to upgrade their qualifications.
