Ballarat sign Jalen Billups

The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the signing of American Jalen Billups for the 2020 NBL1 South season.

Hailing from Cincinnati in Ohio, Billups played College Basketball for Northern Kentucky University and the 200cm power forward is another strong signing for Ballarat.

Billups was excited to be heading to Australia for the upcoming NBL1 South Season.

“Very excited to just come out there meet all the guys and compete at a high level, and importantly win.” Billups said.

Billups will head down under after a season with the Southern Huskies in the New Zealand National Basketball League where he averaged 21-points per game.

“I’m coming out here to build relationships with them and we all want individual goals but we’re here to win a championship so definitely excited for that.” Billups ended with.

Head Coach of the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Brendan Joyce was looking forward to getting Billups out to Australia.

“Jalen performed great for the Southern Huskies in Hobart last season playing in the New Zealand National League. Jalen knows our league and is familiar with a lot of the players which makes it a smoother transition for himself, our team and the NBL1 South.” Joyce said.

“Jalen will provide a strong inside presence in the post but can stretch the floor with his 3 point shot making him an ideal 4 man in our squad. He is hungry and with his size and strength should make him a tough guard but he can also defend in multiple positions due to his agility.” Joyce ended with.

Billups is the eleventh signing for the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners joining Short, Kuany, Acuoth, Fisher, Lingard, Dunmore, Joyce, Gibcus, Weightman & Allison in the NBL1 South Squad.

Basketball Ballarat will be hosting a Family Day thanks to Stockland Wendouree for the local Ballarat and Western Region at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre on Sunday March 22nd from 11-1pm with details to come.
