The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Deng Acuoth for the 2020 NBL1 South season.
Acuoth will return after receiving the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Award for the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners before signing with South East Melbourne Phoenix in the NBL. Acuoth was looking forward to returning to Ballarat for his second season with the club.
“I am very excited to be back in Ballarat, definitely have unfinished business from last season so I’m really excited for the opportunity for us to win the championship.” Acuoth said.
At the grand opening of the Ballarat Sports Events Centre late 2019, Acuoth got to view the new facilities where the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners will call home for the 2020 NBL1 South Season and Acuoth was excited to hit the courts.
“I am really looking forward to playing in the new stadium so hopefully we can fill it out every home game.” Acuoth said.
Head Coach of the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Brendan Joyce was thrilled to have Acuoth back to play a critical role for the team.
“Very happy to have our big man return as he is a major part of our team and will continue to improve.” Joyce said.
“Deng is the major anchor to our defence similar to what Andrew Bogut is for the Sydney Kings. Deng displayed that he is the best shot blocker in the NBL1 with his NBA athleticism but can score in various ways for us and is also a great team player.”
“I have no doubt he will continue to improve and eventually become an important player for his NBL team and quite possibly play overseas” Joyce ended with.
Acuoth is the eighth signing for the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners joining Short, Kuany, Fisher, Lingard, Dunmore, Joyce and Gibcus.
