Kristy Rinaldi Signs

The Selkirk Ballarat Rush are thrilled to announce the signing of Kristy Rinaldi who will join the team for NBL1 2020.

Rinaldi has previously played 297 games over 13 years before announcing her retirement from the SEABL competition in 2018 and continuing her playing career in the Big V Championships competition for Broadmeadows this season gone.

“I’m very excited to be back for season 2020 with the Selkirk Ballarat Rush. I absolutely love the town and the club. I’m looking forward to continuing my career in Ballarat.” Rinaldi said.

Rinaldi said although she played away in 2019 she still did keep an eye on the Selkirk Ballarat Rush throughout the year.

“I kept an eye on the team last season and really liked the way the girls where playing. There’s a few familiar faces so it will be good to get back on the court with them.” Rinaldi said.

Former Rush player Lynly Doherty who now assists with player recruitment said she was really excited to see Kristy return to Ballarat.

“Kristy symbolises all the qualities we endeavour to instil in our juniors coming through the program; love for the game, passion to grow and be the best she can be, and commitment and respect for her club and teammates.” Doherty said.

The 2020 NBL1 Season is set to be a big year for Ballarat as the teams transition into their new home court at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre. Rinaldi is looking forward to playing at the new centre and under Selkirk Ballarat Rush Coach Eric Hayes.

“I’ve played under Eric before and I know what he expects of me and the way he likes to play. I think the club has made some big changes in the last 18 months and believe the club is heading in a really positive direction with the new stadium but also bringing up the young ones to NBL1. It’s exciting to be a part of.” Rinaldi ended with.

The 2020 NBL1 Season will commence in April with home games played at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre.
